The 2012 Gardening Season is Upon Us!!

Here we are, entering our third year of community gardening in Wrangell!  We have a Work Day scheduled for Sunday, May 13th, from 10am - 2pm.  We hope most of the members will be able to find some time to pitch in and help with our beginning of the season preparation and clean-up chores.  This date will also act as an Orientation Meeting for new members, in case they need an overview of the garden.

The work party might be a good time to get some of those volunteer hours under your belt.  Our plan is to have a volunteer duties sheet posted on the bulletin board at the garden site.  Please check the sheet periodically for a task that you could perform, and once complete, be sure to note your date of performance.

Please familiarize yourself with the garden rules, out of respect for the rest of the users.  Please make sure you are starting to work in your designated plot, and if you have any questions about which plot is yours, don’t hesitate to ask.

The Compost Committee encourages you to either compost at home or contribute to the bins at the garden. Tasty vegetables depend on soil high in nutrients and organic matter, and as these are used up, they must be replenished.   We're hoping to build a good stash of organic matter for our garden members.  If you don't compost at home, bring it on down to the Community Garden bins.

The water will soon be turned on and the garden hose will be connected and run into the garden site for easy watering.  Please remember to keep the hose neat and tidy.

We look forward to seeing you in the garden this summer and to getting our hands dirty.  Once again, it’s time to “Dig In!”
